Citizen Kane Review

This movie is said to be the greatest of all time, and it was my most anticipated movie ever, and it didn't disappoint. Great story, great characters, great cinematography, great suspense, great twist ending, great acting, and a history as worthy as "Winter Soldier", and all of those put together make an outstanding film that should be watched by every movie lover that watched one single black and white film. It's caught heart, but sophistication, funny, but admirable, black and white, but more colorful then any movie released before or after it, it is an absolute MASTERPIECE, and only surpassed by films that somehow had more genius than this. Movies like 12 Angry Men did so much with so little, but this film did so much with an outstanding story and so much diversity, which could lead the argument that it's not as respectable as 12 Angry Men, as 12 Angry Men had a simple premise and turned it into a masterpiece, while this has an easier premise to work with, and I agree (That's why I like 12 Angry Men slightly better), but I still love Citizen Kane for doing a lot with so much already done. Oh well, it doesn't take away anything from the enjoyment factor, cause you're to busy being sucked into the characters and story that you don't notice that extremely minor flaw until the end of the film. So, since I can't talk about everything that's good in this film, I should just do "The Best and Worst of Citizen Kane"! The Best has to be Orson Welles himself, both as the character Citizen Kane and in the Directing chair. As Kane, you can feel the intensity, you can feel when he has aged just by his expressions and his tone of voice, and lastly, he makes an already interesting man twice as interesting with his performance, and as director, he does outstanding, with cinematography never matched until Johnny Got His Gun, which was exactly 30 years after this film, and you can tell he puts as much effort as possible in this, and he's not at all lazy (Yes, I know Orson Welles got a little overweight in his later years, but he wasn't lazy BACK THEN). Now, the worst....(Currently Thinking)................... Well, you might be a little disappointed with all the hype, and...... Some scenes are a little dull, BUT THAT'S IT! I cannot think of any major flaws, this is just an awesome film that's not aged at all. So, since you guys really don't want me to repeat myself 20 times, I will just say, recommended for everyone that doesn't hate Black and White films. Overall: It's as good as the hype says.

5/5
